Nitrogen Recovery from Different Livestock Slurries with an Innovative Stripping Process

Ammonia (NH3) emissions deriving from the management of livestock manure have a significant environmental impact, and therefore it is important to reduce them. Among available options, process NH3 stripping promising remove manures digestates recovering as mineral fertilizer (e.g., ammonium sulfate) that more widely adoptable on farms. The traditional takes place in batches; however, this study, continuous was evaluated using lab scale plant which four reactors were used series with different hydraulic retention times (HRTs) 12 or 20 days. recovery each reactor studied for liquid fraction pig slurry, dairy cattle slurry digestate, applying simple headspace aeration.
